I’ve been planning to photograph the mangroves forest for quite some time and kayak seems to be the best way of getting around the narrow tributaries. At the same time, whitewater kayaking happens to be in my To-Do list for a long time too.
So after researching the online articles etcetera, I’ve decided to get myself a kayak for both the flatwater and whitewater condition which is conveniently called the Crossover type. But all these will not be without first getting valuable advice from an experienced kayaker, so on the way back home today I stopped by Gerald’s house for a chat and checking out his arsenal of kayaks in the backyard.
Gerald was more into fishing and outback camping, an option that I might consider in future but at the moment, I’ll stick to photography and the adrenalin rush of maneuvering the rapids. I’ll consider that after I find my own buddy that would join the weekend kayak-camping excursion.
I haven’t decided which kayak to buy because so far I’ve only seen some of Gerald’s collection. Gerald uses Boogeese, Malibu and Liquidlogic. In terms of value for money, I think Boogeese is the most affordable.
But whichever brand I will go for, it wouldn’t be the inflatables for sure. It’s either the Sit-In or Sit-On-Top, maybe even Stand-Up-Paddling type.
